It’s not you, it’s me
20 May 2010
Since my last post, I’ve heard from scores of people wracked with remorse and regret, devastated by the idea that it’s their own lack of feedback and engagement which has brought these proceedings to a standstill.
In a desperate attempt to relieve this widespread trauma (well, a couple of people have kind of mentioned it), I really ought to admit that my grumble about the infrequency of comments from readers was a gratuitous sideswipe, not a big point. The big points about the current interruption of service are that a) I’m too busy, and b) I can’t think of anything to say.
Although obviously I did find something to say just now. Hmm. Maybe the subject of not writing a blog gives me a whole lot of new things to write about. How would that work?

Hi Lucian. I’ve only just found your blog and I’ve enjoyed your ramblings. Sorry for being late in the day - how do I subscribe?

Four conditions:
1 I’ve never been very taken with those on-again-off-again arrangements, so you need to make up your mind whether you’re committed to this relationship or not.
2 You need to cut out the cliches. “It’s not you. It’s me.” Of course it’s YOU. It’s always been about you. Didn’t the lack of meaningful responses tell you anything?
3 If we do get back together, there isn’t going to be any make-up sex (or any other kind).

It needs writ. Do not waste that brain the size of the Isle of Thanet on clients.

… that these are not the (interesting) times in which to go silent on your readers or clients which may be the same. The recent Radio 4 programme on J.B Priestly’s wartime broadcasts sheds light on your dilemma. The programme is probably still retrievable from the ether. Social media need independent voices. The top social media marketing agency is 1000heads. Their website shows the value of independent thinking - they have none. They lavish their clients not with expertise but “cool stuff” and “lol”.

That Simon Carne is right, Luce. Mediation is the future. Sod this for a game of soldiers.
